Our volunteer community supports a range of programs across campus, from sustainability and food security initiatives to major events and student engagement activities. Whether you can volunteer regularly or just a few times a semester, there’s an opportunity for everyone.
The UCX Food Pantry helps ensure UC students have access to free food and essential supplies when they need it most. Volunteers are at the heart of this service, sorting donations, stocking shelves and assisting students.

Help our Community Garden thrive by maintaining garden beds, growing fresh produce, and creating a welcoming green space on campus. Harvested produce is shared between the Food Pantry and volunteers, making this the perfect opportunity for anyone passionate about sustainability and the outdoors.

Free Brekky is a volunteer-run breakfast service that provides students with a free meal before class. Volunteers prepare and serve breakfast while creating a welcoming start to the day for students. If you’re an early riser and want to make a positive difference then Free Brekky is for you.

Support sustainability at UC by volunteering with the Repair Café or UCX Op Shop. Help repair clothing, sort donations, and make affordable essentials accessible to students while reducing waste, sharing practical skills.

Art of Rubbish is a campus-wide sustainability initiative focused on collecting hard-to-recycle plastic bottle lids and giving them a second life. Volunteers help sort, clean, and prepare lids for recycling through the Lids4Kids program, where they are transformed into toys, bags, park benches, and more.

Hey! Let’s Crochet is a fun and welcoming craft session led by our amazing X-Crew volunteers. Volunteers help participants learn the basics of crochet, build confidence, and connect with others in a relaxed environment. Whether you’re a crochet enthusiast or sharing a hobby with others, this is for you.

Support the UC Capitals during their WNBL home games at the AIS and experience the excitement of professional sport behind the scenes. Volunteers assist with a variety of game-day roles and help create an unforgettable experience for fans. Plus, you’ll receive free tickets every time you volunteer!

Bring campus events to life by volunteering at O-Week, Open Day, Welcome Day and more, or help lead campus tours for new students. Whether you’re outgoing or behind the scenes, you’ll create memorable experiences while building confidence, connections and valuable event skills.

Catch Up with the Crew is a series of social events exclusively for X-Crew volunteers, designed to help you connect with other volunteers, build friendships, and have fun outside of your regular shifts. From creative workshops and outdoor adventures to wellbeing activities and cultural celebrations, there’s something for everyone throughout the year.
A little nervous about joining? Don’t be! Many volunteers come along not knowing anyone. Our socials are relaxed, welcoming, and a great way to meet like-minded people. Chances are you’ll leave with at least one new friend. 😊
